TUVUKE Initiative is hosting media awards in recognition of the contribution of Kenyan media professionals in supporting democratic and electoral processes towards peaceful elections in 2013.
Awards will be given to winning and outstanding journalists who exhibited conflict sensitive reporting and have, in their stories, advanced inclusion and acceptance of diversity in Kenya. The awards will comprise these categories: Radio, Print, Television, Cartoon, Social Media and Institutional.
TUVUKE Initiative was launched in 2011 and brings together 15 civil society organizations. Over the last two years, the Initiative has worked closely with the media at various levels to build their capacity for conflict sensitive and responsible reporting. This partnership with the media helped TUVUKE Initiative realize its initial objective which was to achieve peaceful, free and fair elections in Kenya. TUVUKE Initiative for peaceful, inclusive and just society in Kenya is committed to working with the media and Kenyan communities to achieve sustainable peace.
The Chairperson of TUVUKE Initiative will preside over a Press briefing at 6.15 p.m. just before the commencement of the gala awards at Laico Regency Hotel.
